Gold kratom is a label given to a kratom blend made of at least two different kratom strains, and it can include between 1 and 3 veins. Gold Thai Kratom is made from multiple veins of the Thai kratom strain.
To understand what Gold Thai Kratom is, it is important to understand veins and strains.
The effects of gold kratom vary from one brand to the next, because everything depends upon the specific alkaloid combinations that come with blending multiple veins and strains of kratom. What is the difference between a kratom strain and a kratom vein?
When reading about kratom, you will often hear about strains and veins. Although the terms sound similar, these are two completely different things.
Kratom strain: Any specific variety of the Mitragyna speciosa tree; often named for the countries and cities where kratom was historically grown (i.e: Thai Kratom)
Kratom vein: A descriptive term for the age at which the kratom leaves were harvested; usually identified as red vein (most mature), green vein, and white vein (least mature)

If you encounter Gold Thai Kratom, for example, you can assume the following:
- The product combines multiple types of Thai kratom
- The vendor may use multiple subtypes of Thai kratom
- The vendor may use multiple veins of Thai kratom
- It may be difficult to find out exactly what is in the product
Choosing a trusted vendor is important because you want to know that the product you’re getting is high quality and pure, no matter how the product is marketed.
Thai kratom is named for Thailand, one of the places where Mitragyna speciosa is native. However, Thai kratom is not necessarily grown in Thailand. Kratom producers typically use the names of cities and countries to differentiate between varieties, but that doesn’t mean that each variety was grown in the place it is named for.
What is Mitragyna speciosa?
Mitragyna speciosa is part of the Rubiaceae family, making it a relative of coffee. It is indigenous to Southeast Asia, including Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia, where the weather is hot and the soil is rich and fertile.
The Mitragyna speciosa tree has dark, glossy, green leaves and grows up to 82 feet tall.
What makes the tree special is its alkaloid content; specifically, mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine. When the leaves are harvested and dried, they can be crushed, pulverized into powder, or used to create kratom gummies, liquid shots, and more.
These leaves have been used in Southeast Asia for generations for both traditional medicine and spiritual practices. However, today the plant is cultivated in far more locations than just Southeast Asia, and it is used for many purposes.
